NEW YORK / RankWire.AI / – Jaguar unveiled the production Type 01 in New York on October 6, marking a major product launch for the British luxury brand. The four-door electric grand tourer is the first production Jaguar based on the dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture. It produces more power than any previous Jaguar road car. Orders will open in early 2027, with prices starting at £130,000.

Jaguar says the Type 01 develops up to 1,030 PS and 1,365 Nm of torque from its electric powertrain. The car accelerates from zero to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds. It can move from 62 mph to 112 mph in 4.0 seconds. Engineers gave the GT a 50:50 weight distribution and intelligent torque vectoring. Jaguar also offers two selectable dynamic characters that adjust the balance between comfort and more responsive driving behavior.

The Type 01 uses an 850-volt electrical system and a battery with 118 kWh of usable capacity. Jaguar estimates an EPA driving range of up to 400 miles. The company also cites a WLTP range of up to 450 miles, or 720 kilometers. A 350 kW DC charger can add up to 200 miles of range in 13 minutes. Jaguar says final range and charging figures remain subject to homologation and real-world conditions.

Electric platform anchors new Jaguar flagship

The new model carries a low roofline, long bonnet and fastback-style profile across a four-door body. Jaguar puts the Type 01 drag coefficient at 0.23, its lowest figure for a production car. Active aerodynamic vanes and a deployable rear spoiler help manage airflow. Wheel sizes extend to 23 inches. The design translates elements of the Type 00 concept into the production model while introducing Jaguar’s latest exterior styling.

Inside, Jaguar has divided the cabin into four individual seating spaces around a central spine. Brass-effect aluminum details run through the interior, while a 24-inch OLED display sits ahead of the driver. A separate seven-inch touchscreen handles key controls. The cabin also introduces Jaguar’s latest infotainment system and an immersive audio setup with a full-width panoramic soundbar. The company has kept the interior layout focused on four occupants rather than a conventional five-seat arrangement.

    UK production starts in 2027

JLR will begin Type 01 production at its Solihull operation in Britain during 2027. Wolverhampton will supply electric drive units and battery packs. Halewood in Merseyside will provide pressed body panels. JLR said nearly 9,000 Solihull employees have received training linked to electric vehicle production. Jaguar designed and engineered the Type 01 in the United Kingdom, and JLR will manufacture the vehicle there.

Jaguar staged the world premiere at STORIED in West Chelsea after digital displays appeared across Times Square, DUMBO and the Lower East Side. Jaguar TCS Racing driver António Félix da Costa drove the car to the event. The company also named actor Florence Pugh as the first brand ambassador for its latest brand phase. Singer-songwriter Sienna Spiro performed during the launch. Jaguar expects first customer deliveries of the Type 01 in the second half of 2027.
